Introduction
One of the most common problems that a dentist faces is managing patients with impacted wisdom teeth. Management of the patients requires an appropriate risk assessment that leads to a decision of either to extract it or not. Moreover, management might require a referral of the patient to a specialist when the case is outside the scope of practice of a general dentist.

Aim 
To enable dentists to manage patients with problems related to impacted wisdom teeth. 

Competencies
By the end of this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Diagnose patients with problems related to impacted wisdom teeth
  • Formulate a treatment plan for patients with impacted wisdom teeth
  • Assess the risk associated with surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth
  • Perform surgical extraction of soft tissue impacted wisdom teeth
  • Manage complications associated with surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth

Overall Schedule
The programme consists of 10 days – 4 theoretical days and 6 live patient clinical sessions performed by the participants. Each participant will manage a minimum of 6 patients with impacted teeth under the supervision of the faculty members.

Live Patient Surgical Consists of:

  • Patient examination
  • Request and interpretation of CBCT
  • Surgical removal of the impacted tooth
  • Providing postoperative instructions
  • Prescribing the required medications
