Erbium lasers. The indispensable technology for the modern dentist.
Abstract
Since the first successful laser cavity preparation in 1988, Erbium lasers have evolved and many dentists worldwide have included it in their clinics’ armamentarium. From caries removal, laser-assisted endodontics, laser-assisted periodontics, periimplantitis treatment, soft-tissue management, veneer debonding and teeth whitening, erbium lasers have a plethora of dental indications that can be used. In this lecture, we will understand the wavelength capabilities, take a look at several clinical cases, discuss the misconceptions of laser dentistry and learn how to successfully implement this fascinating technology in your everyday clinical practice.
