Since 2012, University Professor DDr. Werner Zechner has been Co-Head of the Department for Oral Surgery and Implantology at the University Dental Clinic of the Medical University of Vienna and is active in private oral surgical and implant practice in Vienna (www.profzechner.at). He was appointed Honorary Professor of the Medical University in 2014 and has held several key professional leadership roles, including former President and active board member of the Austrian Society for Implantology (OGI). He serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Society for Ceramic Implantology (ESCI), is a university consortium member for the “Integration of Digital Software in Dentistry,” and a scientific board member of the Austrian Dental Association (OEGZMK). 

With more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, 11 national and international scientific awards, and an h-index of 28 (62 author documents; 2,611 citations by 2,321 documents), his work has made a sustained impact on the field. Over the past 25+ years, he has been extensively involved in academic lecturing and anatomical course activities, particularly on surgical grafting techniques and digitally supported surgical protocols. His main clinical and scientific interests include implant surface hard tissue integration and healing mechanisms, peri-implantitis management, digital-based implant concepts with 3D static and dynamic guided protocols, and standard and complex bone grafting techniques.
