Prof. Hesham Marei is a highly accomplished Professor and Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He earned his Bachelor's degree in 1997 from Cairo University and then went on to receive his Master's and Doctoral degrees in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Suez Canal University in Egypt. Dr. Marei also completed his clinical oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Cardiff Dental School in the UK and was awarded a Fellowship in Dental Surgery in 2006 from the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
Dr. Marei is passionate about medical education and obtained a Master's degree in Medical Education in 2012 and a PhD in Health Professions Education in 2018 from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. His doctoral thesis focused on the use of computer simulation in dental education.
Dr. Marei has held academic and clinical positions in the UK, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia before moving to the UAE. His last position was as Associate Professor and Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, where he was recognized as the best medical teacher for his academic excellence. He has also been involved in developing e-learning platforms for dental students and professionals, providing consultation services to private and governmental dental colleges seeking national and international accreditation.
In terms of research, Dr. Marei has published over 40 articles in internationally recognized journals. His research focuses on the applications of 3D printing technology in dentistry, the effect of chemotherapy on bone healing, osseointegration of dental implants, the use of virtual patients in dental education, and medical professionalism.
Dr. Marei is a highly respected expert in his field and has contributed to several national and international events through presentations, workshops, and courses in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Pakistan, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA.
