Prof. Dr Walid Altayeb (DDS, MSc, PhD) is an internationally recognised periodontist, implantologist, and laser dentistry expert with over two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He earned his dental degree from the Faculty of Dentistry, Damascus University in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in Periodontics (2004) and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Periodontics (2007). A distinguished member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), he holds the Mastership in Laser Dentistry and has achieved Advanced Proficiency certification, reflecting his deep expertise and clinical excellence.

Prof. Altayeb is the President of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (2024–2025), serving on its Board of Directors and Speakers Bureau. He is widely respected in academia, holding guest professorships at several leading institutions including Istanbul Aydin University (Turkey), Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma (Italy), and UNIVERSIAPOLIS in Agadir (Morocco). Over his career, he has delivered more than 1,650 CPD hours in esthetic periodontics, implantology, and laser dentistry, and has been a featured speaker at major conferences across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. His contributions have earned him prestigious honours such as the Leon Goldman Award for Clinical Excellence (2023) and the John G. Sulewski Distinguished Service Award (2019) from the ALD.

A pioneer in advancing laser dentistry education, Prof. Altayeb founded the ALD Gulf Laser Chapter, chaired the ALD International Relations Committee, and established the laser section within the British Academy of Implant and Restorative Dentistry (BAIRD). He is also the creator of BAIRD’s Professional Diploma in Advanced Laser Dentistry and leads the renowned “Pink Aesthetics & Laser Dentistry” courses throughout the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to his academic and organisational leadership, he maintains an active clinical practice as a periodontist and implantologist at Tamim Dental Polyclinic in Doha, Qatar, and Dr Imran Aestheticare Center in Dubai, UAE, where he continues to deliver advanced patient care and innovative treatment solutions.
