Prof. Dimitar Filtchev is a full professor at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University – Sofia, Bulgaria. He holds specializations in Prosthodontics, General Dentistry, and Implantology, and earned his PhD in 2012.

His clinical and academic focus includes esthetic and digital dentistry, implant-supported prosthetics, and soft tissue management around teeth and implants..

He has completed advanced postgraduate training in the USA and Europe, including New York University, the University of Bologna (Master’s Program with Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli), and the Hurzeler/Zuhr Implant Program in Munich.

Prof. Filtchev is the author of over 90 scientific publications, he has presented at more than 200 national and international congresses and conducted over 50 accredited hands-on courses. He has lectured at prestigious Universities, including NYU , University of Pennsylvania, Geneva and Naples.

He is the co-developer of several innovative systems in digital dental medicine – including Visagismile®, HiSmiley™, Rebel Simplicity®, and the international platform DIGICUTO® – protected by national and international patents (including PCT/WIPO). He holds six patents and utility models related to prosthetic protocols and digital workflows.

In 2024, Prof. Filtchev was recognized as one of the Top 100 Dentists in the World. He is also the recipient of the Best Clinical Poster Award at the 44th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED) in 2019, and Third Prize for Innovation in Dentistry from the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED) for Visagismile®.

He is an honorary member of Style Italiano, affiliate member of EAED, member of EAO, runs The Top Dental Center in Sofia, focused on esthetic and implant dentistry.
