Dr Susanne Schwarting is a specialist in Dental Sleep Medicine based in Kiel, Germany. She graduated with a DDS from the University of Goettingen in 1983 and began her academic career as an assistant at the Dental Schools of Goettingen and Marburg. Since 1997, she has operated a private practice in Kiel focused exclusively on dental sleep medicine, specializing in oral appliance therapy for the treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders. Her work involves close interdisciplinary collaboration with sleep physicians, pulmonologists, and ENT specialists.

Dr. Schwarting is a founding member and former president (2005–2016) of the German Society of Dental Sleep Medicine (DGZS) and holds DGZS certification in the field. She is also a Diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and served as a founding and board member of the European Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine from 2004 to 2020, where she achieved expert-level accreditation. She has contributed to the development of dental sleep medicine internationally by helping establish professional workgroups in the United Kingdom, Italy, Asia, and Portugal.

A frequent lecturer, Dr. Schwarting has delivered numerous presentations and courses across Germany, Europe, and Asia for physicians, dentists, and the public on the dental treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders. She has also authored and co-authored publications on mandibular advancement devices and the management of sleep apnea in dental practice.
