Abstract

Considering all the new technological evolution in the dental field, the digital approach has become indispensable in everyday dental practice It effortlessly facilitates communication between professionals, lab technicians, colleagues, and primarily patients to provide an efficient and predictable service, simplifying the frequent complications that can occur on a daily basis. The digital scan is faster than the impression and allows immediate error detection, avoiding the waste of time associated with analog techniques. The registration of the finish line is the most important part and the main concern of every practitioner, but very often, gingival health is not ideal, and the lack of impression material pressure on tissues leads to poor outcomes.

The Vertical Preparation Technique fits perfectly in Digital Approach for the absence of a defined finish line, eliminating the need for time-consuming finish line registration and the need of impression material pressure on tissues. This approach offers multiple benefits, such as increased retention and stability of the crown, better gingival health, reduced tooth structure removal, and less trauma to soft tissues.                                                                                                        This technique leads to more precise impressions and easier positioning of restorations, ensuring greater patient comfort, faster procedures, and improved aesthetic outcomes.

This workshop aims to provide guidelines and protocols about combining digital workflow and vertical preparation technique to provide valid treatment options without compromising, giving the chance to reach healthier and more predictable outcomes. Participants will learn how to adopt an end-to-end digital workflow from patient consultation, through digitizing the preparation to communication with the lab and simple design of crown using CAD/CAM system. Comprehensive hands-on part will teach attendees how to perform the vertical preparation technique on anterior and posterior teeth to include it into their daily restorative workflow.
