REGISTRATION

Scientific program day 1 (seminar)

09:00 - 18:00
"Vital pulp therapy: when and how pulp vitality can be maintained in deep caries lesions."
Dr. Domenico Ricucci
  • Tissue response to shallow, medium and deep caries. New information concerning "non cavitated, white spot" lesions.
  • Diagnostic tools in the diagnosis of reversible/irreversible pulpitis. Correlation between clinical and histologic pulp diagnoses.
  • Controversies about the depth of caries excavation. Selective vs non-selective caries excavation.
  • Indirect pulp therapy. Why the concept is biologically wrong.
  • Direct pulp capping.
  • Partial and full pulpotomy as an alternative to root canal treatment.
  • Old and new biomaterials. Comparison between Calcium hydroxide, MTA compounds and Ca-silicate cements.
  • Regenerative endodontics. A critical appraisal in the light of histopathologic evidence.

Scientific program day 2 (seminar)

09:00 - 13:00
"Endodontic infections. Possibilities and limitations in achieving infection control. Impact on the treatment outcome - Part 1"
Dr. Domenico Ricucci
  • Patterns of microbial colonization of the root canal system.
  • Periapical lesion formation. Types of apical periodontitis lesions.
  • Apical limit of root canal instrumentation and obturation. The controversial issue of apical "patency". Determining working length. How to integrate radiography and electronic apex locators.
  • Lateral canals: the never-ending story.
  • Limitations in achieving a sterile root canal system with chemo-mechanical instrumentation. Do the "new technologies" work?
  • Clinical and histologic definition of "endodontic success".
  • How to handle root canal treatment failures. Orthograde re-treatment. Indications for apical surgery procedures
14:00 - 15:30
"Surgical and none surgical endodontics, how and when to choose. Latest update."
Dr. Talal Al-Nahlawi
The limits between two treatment modalities by listing complex cases treated none surgically as well as going through microsurgey
15:30 - 18:00
"Endodontic infections. Possibilities and limitations in achieving infection control. Impact on the treatment outcome - Part 2"
Dr. Domenico Ricucci
  • Treatment of the large lesions of the jaws. Is a surgical approach always necessary?
  • Treatment plan for teeth with severe loss of tooth structure. How important is diagnosis?
  • Biological and mechanical considerations in the clinical decision of maintaining a natural tooth. Modern trends in post-endodontic build-up.
  • Approach to complex cases that can be encountered in a clinical practice.

Moderator: Dr. Talal Al-Nahlawi

Dr Talal Al-Nahlawi graduated from dental school at Damascus University in 1999, where he also obtained his specialty in Endodontics, Master's and PhD degrees. He is now an associate Professor at Syrian Private University and a lecturer at Damascus University, Al-Sham Private University, and National Dental Center.
