Abstract

Some esthetic and functional parameters can significantly affect the outcome of a prosthetic rehabilitation. Properly addressing those factors and combining them with the application of MIPPs (Minimally Invasive Prosthetic Procedures) will undoubtedly facilitate the achievement of a predictable and successful result.

A careful analysis of the facial, dento-labial and phonetic parameters is crucial before embarking upon a full-mouth rehabilitation, however the clinician should never underestimate the importance of the function as it represents the starting point for achieving optimal esthetics. Positioning the mandible of the patient in CR according to the reorganization approach is highly advisable when an occlusal modification is required. Furthermore, by altering the VDO, the clinician will be able to avoid invasive occlusal preparations, maintaining a sufficient quantity of enamel which reveals to be ideal for the bonding procedure. The alteration of the VDO is a key factor for any Minimally Invasive Prosthetic Procedure (MIPP) involving one or two-arches.
