During Root Canal Treatment (RCT), one of the main goals of this procedure is the complete isolation of the residual microorganisms after the shaping and irrigation phases. To achieve this complete isolation is needed and obturation material that can adapt to the anatomic variations present in the teeth, such as oval extensions, lateral canals, or isthmuses. In order to obtain this three-dimensional sealing, contemporary techniques such as vertical condensation or carrier-based methods are present in the market, but they have some clinical indications and we, as clinicians, have to choose the most suitable technique for the anatomy we are facing.
In addition, new bioceramic sealers and materials have been launched into the market and it is necessary to evaluate their advantages and indications.
Learning Objectives
- To review the different contemporary techniques to obturate the root canal anatomy.
- To understand the techniques and clinical tips to apply them in a safe and correct way.
- To identify the indications for the different techniques and materials.
- To evaluate the advantages of new bioceramic materials and sealers.
