Abstract
The Er:YAG 2940 nm laser offers a versatile approach to a wide range of dental procedures involving both hard and soft tissues.
This lecture and hands-on workshop will provide an overview of the fundamental characteristics of the 2940 nm wavelength, laser–tissue interactions, ablation mechanisms, and essential safety considerations, with an emphasis on their clinical relevance.
Through clinical cases from the speakers’ daily practice, the multidisciplinary applications of the LIGHTMED Sapphire Er:YAG laser will be presented, including cavity preparation, zirconia crown debonding, gingivectomy and gingivoplasty, implant uncovering, periodontal debridement, biofilm disruption, granulation tissue removal, and surgical exposure of unerupted permanent teeth.
The hands-on session will focus on device handling, parameter and tip selection, and practical exercises demonstrating selected clinical procedures.
The program aims to highlight the versatility, ergonomics, and practical integration of Er:YAG laser technology into everyday dental practice.
