Abstract

Advancements in rotary instrumentation and obturation techniques have greatly improved the precision, safety, and predictability of endodontic treatment. Navigating complex root canal anatomy is now more efficient, with fewer procedural errors and better outcomes. Yet key questions remain: How many instruments are truly needed for effective canal shaping and retreatment? Which instrumentation techniques offer the best balance between efficiency, structural preservation, and clinical success?

This presentation will explore the evolution of mechanical preparation toward adaptive, minimally invasive strategies that respect natural tooth structure while optimizing disinfection and obturation. Attendees will gain practical insights into integrating these modern approaches into both primary and retreatment cases for improved outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Review the best available approaches in canal shaping
  • Implement efficient, minimally invasive instrumentation strategies in daily practice for both initial treatments and retreatments.
  • Assess the clinical benefits of disinfection techniques in improving long-term treatment outcomes.
