Abstract
This theoretical and hands-on course is designed to translate the principles of modern esthetic dentistry into a practical and reproducible clinical protocol for direct anterior restorations.
After a brief review of treatment planning, adhesive principles, shade selection and the optical and anatomical characteristics of natural teeth, the course will focus on the step-by-step construction of anterior composite restorations.
Participants will work with Tetric N-Plus and Empress Direct, exploring their different handling characteristics and clinical applications. Particular emphasis will be placed on anatomical morphology, enamel and dentin layering, management of translucency and opacity, creation of natural surface texture, and finishing and polishing.
The practical session will allow participants to reproduce the complete restorative workflow, from the initial build-up to the final characterization and polish, with a strong focus on simplicity, efficiency and predictability.
The objective is not simply to reproduce a technique, but to understand the principles behind natural-looking restorations and develop a personal, repeatable approach that can be transferred directly to everyday clinical practice.
A practical journey from composite placement to a restoration that looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental principles of treatment planning, adhesive protocols, shade selection, and the optical and anatomical characteristics of natural teeth in direct anterior restorations.
- Discuss the handling characteristics and clinical applications of Modern Restorative Materials, understanding how material selection influences the restorative workflow.
- Demonstrate a systematic approach to anterior composite layering, including enamel and dentin stratification, anatomical morphology, and the management of translucency and opacity.
- Apply finishing and polishing techniques to reproduce natural surface texture and achieve harmonious aesthetic integration in direct anterior restorations.
- Reproduce a complete and reproducible restorative workflow, from the initial composite build-up to final characterization and polishing, with a focus on simplicity, efficiency, and predictability in everyday clinical practice.
