Abstract
Pharmacists are often the first healthcare professionals consulted for oral discomfort, ulcers, gum issues, or sensitivity. This session provides a clear, practical framework to help pharmacists recognize common oral conditions, differentiate between self-manageable issues and those requiring referral, and recommend suitable over-the-counter strategies. Dr. Nadim will guide participants through real-world cases, clinical signs to watch for, and evidence-based management approaches—empowering pharmacists to support patients effectively while ensuring safe and timely dental referral.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify the most common oral conditions that present in community pharmacy settings.
- Differentiate between benign, self-limiting oral issues and red flags requiring urgent dental referral.
- Recommend appropriate OTC products and supportive care strategies for common oral complaints.
- Educate patients on preventive oral hygiene habits that reduce recurrence of common conditions.
- Document and communicate patient concerns effectively to promote collaborative care.
