Preparation for Modern Porcelain Veneers: How to Make Minimal Invasive thin Veneers, Partial and the Modified Non-prep Veneers
Hands-on course
08 Nov 2019 Dubai | UAE | InterContinental Hotel | DFC Area of interest: General Dentistry

Course Outline

The course will start with a lecture that will cover the biological backround necessary to make appropriate tooth preparations for all-ceramic restorations, specifically porcelain veneers. Different ceramics will be classified, in order to asses the properties of different materials and their indications. Advantages and disadvantages will be discussed. Classic preparations will be shown and compared with modern options. Afterwards several clinical cases fully documented in high resolution will be presented showing a wide array of preparation techniques and cementation materials and protocols. A comparison between the needs for CAD-CAM and non CAD-CAM restorations will be given.

The hands-on section will start at the end of the morning session. First, preparation guides will be made and several tips for the orientation during preparation will be given.

In the afternoon session, the biological preparation for a labial veneers with different finishing lines will be made. Then the proximal contact will be broken and a ¾ veneer performed. At the end of the session, an all/ceramic restoration will be cemented as a demonstration. Different cementation materials and techniques will be presented.

Course Objectives

At the end of the program, the participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the biological principles of tooth preparations
  2. Indicate the right type of preparation depending from the patient needs
  3. Understand the advantages of certain materials for each indication
  4. Prepare for inlays, onlays, crowns and veneers, based on the limitations and advantages of CAD-CAM and non CAD-CAM technology.
  5. Understand the geometry necessary for improvements of fit and duration of all-ceramic CAD-CAM and non CAD-CAM restorations.

Important Note

The course is designed and planned for CAD-CAM users as well as non CAD-CAM users
