Abstract

The 3D obturation of the root canal system is crucial for the success of the Root CanalTreatment (RCT).

The controvert about ideal filling materials or techniques is still debatable, but the desirablebiological and physical properties of obturation materials are evident.

Last years, huge changes were made to the practice & science of RCT, causing theintroduction of hydraulic cements (Bioceramic Sealers) with their ease of manipulation, predictable technique & short chair-side time. Bioceramic sealers represent a real game changer where it became a more interesting & favorable option in order to carry out a high-quality root canal obturation.

The Bioceramic sealers provide a good seal for the pulp space against microbial re-infection unlike gutta-percha & simplifies the obturation step in complex root canal anatomies whatever the technique used, showing a great performance based on the recalls & highlighting how significantly the tissues repair in presence of these materials.

Assessment of the obturation quality can be done clinically using radiographic evaluationincluding CBCT.

This lecture covers the 3D obturation techniques/materials which can be used in nearly allroot canal cases & their impact on endodontic success.
