Veneer cementation is highly technique sensitive. In contrast to traditional crowns, veneers rely almost solely on the bond strength of the adhesive as well as resin cement and, to a small extent, on preparation design. The challenge is, therefore, to employ techniques and materials that maximize this bond, decreasing the incidence of debonding, recurrent caries, and hypersensitivity.
The other challenge at the cementation visit is shade control. Veneers are thin and translucent therefore they are affected by the optical properties of the underlying cement used. The discussion will include the use of trial cement and the methodology of choosing cement shades.
- Precise seating, adjustment, and bonding techniques
- Proper selection of adhesive and cement systems
- Accurate selection of cement shade in different clinical scenarios
