Dr Ioanna Gidarakou received her dental degree Summa Cum Laude from the Dental School of Aristotle University, Thessaloniki Greece. She then completed her three-year orthodontic specialty at Eastman Institute of Oral Health, University of Rochester, NY where she also received her certificate in Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction in 2002. She served as faculty in the Orthodontic and Pediatric Dentistry Department at Eastman Institute for Oral Health while accomplishing a 1-year fellowship on craniosynostosis in the Department of Paediatric Genetics, University of Rochester, NY.
In 2011 she completed her PhD thesis entitled “Cephalometric indices of biological response to orthodontic treatment in children with Class II division 1 malocclusion” in the Orthodontic department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Dr. Gidarakou has maintained 2 private practices in Macedonia, Greece since 2002. Her main clinical interests are growth modification, digital orthodontics, and aligner therapy for adolescent and adult patients. She has published numerous articles in world-renowned journals and is a regular lecturer at conventions and seminars worldwide. She has been an international speaker of 3Shape on digital orthodontics since 2017.
She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the Greek Orthodontic Society, the Greek Association for Orthodontic Study and Research, and the European Aligner Society. Also serves as a founding member of the Greek Aligner Society and a member of its Board.
