Dr. AL is the Founder of PBM Group of Companies, he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He received the University Gold Medal and completed a concurrent master’s degree in Pathology. Dr. Al has earned multiple degrees and received numerous awards including the prestigious pre–Doctoral IADR Hatton award for his research on MRIs and odontoblasts.
A serial entrepreneur he has had a diverse career as a solo dental practitioner and owner of large multi-dental office groups in Canada, the UK and US called Clear Choice Dental Implant Centers. He has owned dental and specialized orthodontic laboratories, a dental model company, a dental supply company as well a company that manufactured orthodontic wires and accessories.
He was a KOL for SteriOss and NobelBiocare for many years and worked with the team to develop the NobelBiocare Replace Implant. He ran a comprehensive dental mini residency to train dentists and their teams in dental implant surgery and restorative procedures.
His interest in the field of photobiomodulation began almost 20 years ago. As an implant surgeon, he was looking for methods to help alleviate pain associated with dental implant surgery, speed up bone graft healing and decrease time for implant stability so teeth or dentures could be attached faster and increase function and esthetics for patients. In a serendipitous manner he and another dentist discovered using LED’s enhanced implant stability and bone graft healing and created a device that would achieve this function. Subsequently, a device to decrease orthodontic treatment time and pain was also developed.
Dr Al formed PBM Healing International to continue developing dental, medical and wellness devices using Photobiomodulation as the primary energy source. There are many advantages of photobiomodulation including: NATURAL, FASTER TREATMENT, FASTER RECOVERY, DECREASED PAIN, DRUG FREE, CONVENIENT AND SAFE and SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN with over 10,000 PUBLISHED STUDIES. As a result, Dr Al has committed to bringing these benefits to people by developing devices that can be applied for diverse areas including Brain Health and overall, Body Wellness. He is also developing devices for use with dogs, cats, horses, and cows.
He enjoys lecturing around the world most notably in the application of Photobiomodulation principles in the medical, dental, and animal devices that he has developed. He also lectures on personal and practice development in his role as a Coach. He is a published author most notably for the “E Myth Dentist” with Michael Gerber.
