Gülce Çakmak, Assoc. Prof. DDS, PhD, Dr. med. dent.

Gülce Çakmak is currently a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry and Gerodontology at the University of Bern’s School of Dental Medicine (ZMK Bern), Switzerland. She earned her DDS from Ankara University and her PhD from Gazi University in Turkey. In 2016, she completed a research internship in Restorative, Prosthetic, and Implant Dentistry at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Çakmak was an International Team for Implantology (ITI) Scholar at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from 2019 to 2020 and the first Buser Implant Foundation Scholar at ZMK Bern from 2021 to 2022.

An ITI Fellow since 2022, she serves as the Digital Young ITI Study Club Director in Switzerland, a consultant in the ITI Section Switzerland Leadership Team, a member of the ITI Leadership Development Committee, on the Editorial Board of the ITI Academy, member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO/OF) Research Submission Committee as well as Research Grant Committee. She previously held academic positions at Istanbul Aydin and Istanbul Okan Universities, attaining the rank of Associate Professor in 2019.

Dr. Çakmak has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 26, 2588 citations) and maintains multiple active international research collaborations. She has received numerous research grants and awards for her scientific contributions. She serves as Associate Editor of the Digital Dentistry Journal and Cumhuriyet Dental Journal, and as an editorial board member for the Journal of Dentistry – Digital Dentistry Section and European Annals of Dental Sciences.

Her academic interests include oral implantology, digital dentistry, dental materials science, CAD/CAM prosthodontics, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Çakmak is actively involved in the ITI, AO, the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO).
