Abstract
Aesthetics signifies “natural beauty”, a quality that comes from within. It can be defined as the science of beauty that is applied in nature and in art. Ever since implants have been used as a treatment option for replacement of missing natural teeth, its result has found to be successful both in term of stability and aesthetic outcomes. However, when tooth loss is accompanied by soft tissue and bone loss, it often requires augmentation of the peri-implant soft tissue or bony site either before or after implant placement. This forms the importance of peri – implant plastic surgery. In aesthetic implant restoration both dental and gingival aesthetics act together to provide a harmonious smile. The predictability of an aesthetic outcome for an implant restoration is dependent on many variables including but not limited to the patient’s smile line, tooth position, root position of the adjacent teeth, biotype of periodontium and bone anatomy. The various factors and the procedures related to enhancement of peri- implant esthetics are discussed in this poster presentation.
