The external sinus approach to maxillary sinus augmentation is an efficient procedure used to restore insufficient bone height in the maxillary posterior areas. Many complications can be encountered, the most frequent one is the perforation of the Schneiderian membrane. Many techniques have been suggested for performing this procedure specially when it is associated with implant placement.
It is the goal of the following presentation to shed light on how far did we get in the lateral sinus elevation procedure using piezoelectric device, evaluating the clinical and radiological success criteria while providing information on how to maintain the outcomes by exposing pertinent literature review. This presentation also Focuses on breaching science with clinical practice by presenting challenging clinical cases and how to enhance the results by applying a peer follow-up and usage of accurate implant cleaning methods while assessing each case dependent on the scenario.
Learning Objectives
- Evaluate how far did we get in the lateral sinus lift technique using piezoelectric devices with or without simultaneous implant placement
- Evaluate the clinical and radiological success criteria for the lateral sinus lift technique using piezo-surgery
- Shed light on the advantages of the piezoelectric devices used in the external sinus lift technique
- Provide further information on when to place implant simultaneously and how to proceed.
- Expose the latest publications on the subject
- Present challenging clinical cases and how to handle each case by breaching science with clinical practice
