Digital Orthodontics Symposium 2019

The Full Digital Orthodontic Patient and the 3D Applications

Abstract

In recent decades, orthodontics has undergone a complete evolution.

The methods to arrive at a correct diagnosis have become much more extensive. Digital photography and radiology have been introduced years ago, but even more radical was the transition from 2D to 3D. With the help of intraoral scanning and associated software, much more precise treatment plans can be achieved. When these intra-oral scans are combined with Cone Beam CT and 3D images of the face, one arrives at a completely digital patient.

The plaster model is replaced by 3D printed models and work pieces.

This leads to a fully digital workflow for bracket placement and 3D printed indirect bonding tray.
