Maximizing Damon mechanics for challenging cases

Abstract

The top three strengths of the Damon system include its excellent abilities to facilitate arch expansion and decrowding, and correct sagittal problems, whether it’s a Class II malocclusion involving a large overjet or a Class III case with a significant negative overjet. With the combined use of the Damon system, elastics and bite turbos, clinicians can take advantage of Damon’s friction-free mechanics to swiftly resolve sagittal problems. Detailed case demonstrations will be featured in this lecture to illustrate the treatment principles and practical techniques in order to maximize the power of the Damon system.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand how to articulate the mechanics of the Damon Q2 system to enable arch expansion.
  • Understand how to design the mechanics to resolve sagittal problems.
  • Understand how to utilize auxiliaries, such as bite turbos and elastics to reduce an excessive overjet.
  • Discuss how to accurately perform differential diagnosis of Class III malocclusions.
  • Explain the outline the protocols for camouflage Class III treatment.
