ABOUT THE EVENT

This year’s 13th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Conference and Exhibition exceeded its previous editions. 

As a result of the growing digital dentistry sector in the region, the conference took place this year in the Madinat Jumeirah Conference & Events Centre, Dubai, UAE. The new location gave the organisers enough space to introduce a number of new elements to the event, including additional room for exhibitors and more comfortable and relaxed seating in the meeting room where the scientific programme was held. The continuous fast development in digital dentistry means there is growing need for relevant high level education. CAPP provided lectures in the scientific programme and multi-disciplinary hands-on courses designed to ensure that dentists, orthodontists and dental technicians were brought fully up to date with the latest technologies on the market. 

The 13th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Conference brought all areas of the digital dental industry together, from device makers to dealers, allowing the participants to update their knowledge of the latest innovations in the field. Several significant events took place during the 8 Days of Continuing Dental Education Programme including: 13th CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Main Conference, Digital Orthodontics Symposium, Dental Technician Int’l Meeting,
12 multi-disciplinaryvHands-on Training Courses, Round Tables Clinic Trainings, Exhibition and Poster Presentation.
The event closed with a total of 2,528 participants including 1,875 conference delegates, 122 orthodontists, 154 dental technicians and additional 377 dental professionals visiting the exhibition and hands-on courses throughout
the two day educational programme. 

Theconference was organised by Centre for Advanced Professional Practices (CAPP).

PARTICIPANTS FACTS

A total of 2,528 participants including 1,875 conference delegates, 122 orthodontists, 154 dental technicians and additional 377 dental professionals visiting the exhibition and hands-on courses throughout the two day educational programme. Regional delegates from different specialties attended to the conference and hands-on courses. 

Additionally, over 200 dental professionals were present from the trade exhibiting the latest digital dentistry technology. There were 36 various countries represented within the two day event. Dental professionals from different specialties including general practitioners, endodontists, implantologists, orthodontists, periodontists, prosthodontist, conservative dentists, maxilofacial surgeons and dental technicians from both government and private sectors enjoyed the high level of the scientific programme whilst meeting top industrial players in this field
during the two days of the conference.


ABOUT THE EVENT

The event gathered top key opinion leaders with a focus on the latest trends and developments in digital orthodontics. Digital dentistry can assist us in many ways, by assessing space and measuring the amount of crowding in cases, predicting treatment outcomes, assisting patients’ communication but also storing models digitally and treatment planning. With the introduction of 3D Printing in dentistry, the opportunities in orthodontics have expanded from digital impression taking, to developing virtual treatment plans and 3D printing of dental models. 

The Digital Orthodontics Symposium illustrated the necessity for orthodontists to look-into and highly consider digitalizing theirworking ways to save time, money and provide more efficient and effective treatments for the patients. A total of 122 orthodontistsattended, 62 from UAE, 28 from KSA, 12 from Kuwait, 9 Oman, 5 Bahrain, 3 Lebanon, and the rest from Asia-Pacific.

Industry leaders spoke at the event! Dr Naif Almosa opened the Digital Orthodontics Symposium with welcoming all attendees. Dr. Francesco Garino started the day with  the lecture on “The Digital Revolution with Intraoral Scanner” & “Clinical Applications of Intraoral Scanners in Orthodontics”. Dr. Amar Benaddi spoke about “Introducton to a New 3D Concept in Vestbular Orthodontic Treatment Thanks to the Innovations in Materials and Digital Tools”
and Prof. Ross Hobson spoke about “Improving Planning
and Predictability Using Digital Workflows in Ortho-restorative Cases”. 

During the afternoon the delegates were listening to Dr. Khaled Hazem Attia on “The Role of CBCT in Evaluating Carriere® Motion Appliance” and Dr. Jaswinder Gill on “How to Increase Case Acceptance with the Digital Workflow”.

TABLE CLINIC TRAININGS

Were hosted by the sponsors and the industry's most respected Orthodontists. Delegates had a chance to attend numerous trainings split in groups, allowing an opportunity for direct discussions and immediate Q&A receiving personal treatment from presenters. The trainings were held in groups (10 seats available per session) in order to have a high learning impact. Outstanding Orthodontists presented various topics of great interest.

Total of 154 dental technicians present included 89 from UAE, 42 from KSA, remaining 23 from GCC.

Industry leaders spoke at the event!The day started with the lecture of Aiham Farah with his lecture on “The Knows and How’s of Flawless Lab-Fabricated Dental Restorations”, following on the stage was Philippe de Moyer ans spoke about “Innovative Method in Guided Surgery to Prepare Immediate Loading and Place Dental Implant”. After a short break Rik Jacobs spoke about “3D Printing on the Edge of Conversion” and Eric Berger spoke about “Aesthetic Realisation with VITA: Cut Back on VITA Block”. Jürgen Feierabend concluded the day with his presentation on “Improving Patient Care Through Modern Technology”.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY HANDS-ON COURSES

Delegates interested in the practical approach participated in multidisciplinary hands-on training courses organized throughout 2nd and 12th of May 2018, resulting in an opportunity to gain further practical knowledge by drilling, bleaching, preparing and testing components on models and learning various considerations in order to optimize restorations and outcomes. The hands-on continuing dental education courses were limited for enrollment in order to allow participants the maximum opportunity to practice their skills in a practical format. During this time CAPP utilised state-of-the art learning techniques to insure that dental professionals go beyond just understanding principles to actually being able to implement the concepts and skills in their practices.

POSTER PRESENTATION

Year after year delegates from across the region travel to Dubai to present their latest scientific cases, studies and novelties through poster presentations. This scientific platform allows authors to meet and get introduced informally with interested viewers, facilitating greater exchange of ideas and networking opportunities. This is an important introductory for researchers at scientific meetings such as the CAD/CAM & Digital Dentistry Conference. This year was no different with three deserved winners, each one receiving appreciations from sponsors and the organizer alike. Awards were distributed by futudent, SWAN and Philips Sonicare (Castle General Trading).
