Abstract
Today’s “dental world” turns around implants; teeth are preserved, bridges are not any more treatment of choice, and edentulous patients wish for fixed rehabilitations. In such an environment, GBR became a standard procedure in our dental offices. On the other side, the patient's wishes are fastness and effectiveness. Is it possible to reconcile bone loss, need for GBR, and be fast and effective?
Principles of Guided Bone Regeneration are well known for many years, but, still, there are a lot of discussions and research in this field. Why, when, and how to use specific surgical technique and material became a crucial question for clinicians; always, to obtain clinically successful and predictable results.
Tooth extraction is an introduction to the world of dental implants for patients. Could we, as clinicians, combine tooth extraction and implant placement, and under which circumstances?!
In this lecture, we will discuss crucial details which influence immediate and delayed implant placement; biological principles of extraction site, methods of socket preservation, implant positioning, and other factors which influence the clinical outcome of such procedure. Nevertheless, therapy limits and alternatives will be presented.
During the hands-on course, every participant will practice socket preservation using resorbable and non-resorbable membranes in combination with natural bovine substitute material with hyaluronate.
