Abstract
Nickel-titanium rotary instruments have considerably sped up shaping procedures. Although they seem very efficient allowing treatment in record time, they have contributed to eclipse fundamental aspects of the cleaning and can break in inexperienced hands. From another standpoint, standard NiTi alloys, although possessing superior mechanical quality than their stainless-steel counterparts, still have limitations and retain elastic memory that may cause canal deviation. The introduction of martensitic alloys may compensate for that fact. Since extensive clinical and experimental data are available, applying the latest research findings to our daily clinical use, as well as understanding the materials, and keeping in mind the basics of endodontology can significantly reduce instrument separation and improve final results. This presentation will focus on advanced nickel‐titanium rotary systems, irrigation improvement, as well as the most recent obturation systems.
