Abstract

Research has indicated that the long-term retention of teeth and resistance to fracturing are directly related to the amount of remaining tooth structure after root canal treatment. New single-file systems ensure the preservation of peri-cervical dentin and peri-cingulum dentin in anterior and posterior teeth. The less tooth structure we destroy, the more dentin we preserve, the longer we can keep the tooth in function.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the clinical benefits of single-file swaggering instruments in easy and complex cases
  • Understand the importance of peri-cervical dentin
  • Demonstrate the clinical protocol for using the single-file shaping  technique
  • Demonstrate the clinical protocol for using the continuous wave of condensation technique for obturation
  • Illustrate the clinical application of  these instruments in easy and complex cases
