Abstract
Managing emergency extractions at the end of a clinical day can present significant challenges for general dentists. Difficult extractions often arise from limited assessment, unexpected anatomical considerations, or inadequate planning. This course provides a structured approach to understanding case difficulty, anticipating complications, and applying evidence-based techniques to simplify the extraction process. Participants will learn how systematic evaluation and proper planning can improve clinical efficiency, reduce stress, and enhance patient outcomes. The session aims to strengthen clinical decision-making and support dentists in performing extractions with greater confidence and predictability.
Learning Objectives
- Interpret appropriate radiographic images to support accurate diagnosis for tooth extraction.
- Plan a predictable extraction strategy, including tooth separation and cleavage techniques.
- Determine when flap elevation is indicated and perform appropriate flap design.
- Manage the extraction socket and apply proper suturing techniques.
- Apply effective postoperative instructions to optimize patient healing and outcomes.
Hands-on Training Component
The practical of the course will be performed on very special imported models.
