Abstract

Dental Veneers are an aesthetic solution to cover up some teeth irregularities. It has been used and sometimes overused in many esthetic treatments. It is appealing as it consists of a minor reduction and the addition of a thin layer of ceramic to enhance the tooth appearance. The indications of their use should be strict and take into consideration many factors ranging from the type of occlusion, colour correction, presence of enamel, patient’s sensitivity to decay, to periodontal health.

Dental Veneers do not necessarily reinforce the teeth. Their retention depends mainly on the enamel. They work better on strong teeth and less on weakened teeth by cavities and restorations. The long-term survival depends on the case selection and proper preparation in the preservation of the enamel. In this presentation, we will review the case selections, type of preparations and the long-term results and complications related to this type of esthetic rehabilitation.
