Objectives
- Aesthetic analysis of the implant site
- Creation of the implant emergence profile in the digital age
Treatment of the aesthetic zone remains one of the biggest challenges in the field of implant dentistry. The final restoration and supra-implant mucosa have to mimic the aesthetic details of the natural tooth and match the adjacent dentition.
The use of implants placed at the level of the bone crest is advantageous in aesthetic sites as the clinician can individualise the position of the future crown margin and the mucosal architecture. The formation of the implant emergence profile can be immediately achieved with the definitive restoration or with a sequentially modified fixed implant provisional.
Technological development has opened the opportunity to create the supra-implant mucosa architecture individually according to the digitalisation of the extracted tooth’s contour or by the three-dimensional radiographic shape of the digitally flipped contra-lateral.
