BRILLIANT Crios CAD/CAM composite bloc enables permanent, natural restorations

Long-lasting material durability
Since 2016, the Swiss dental specialist COLTENE offers a new Reinforced Composite CAD/CAM bloc for fabricating final inlays, onlays, fully anatomical crowns and veneers for the CEREC system. By doing so, COLTENE continues placing special emphasis on composite as a high-performance and versatile material and its computer-assisted processing. The BRILLIANT Crios blocs combine all the advantages of an innovative submicron hybrid composite material with those of a CAD/CAM fabrication process for reliable, aesthetic and fast restorations without a separate firing process. Consistently controlled fabrication with constant thermal curing, gives the Reinforced Composite blocs excellent mechanical properties.
Due to the outstanding flexural strength and the modulus of elasticity, which is very similar to that of dentine, the Reinforced Composite material is less brittle than ceramic. This avoids stress peaks and reduces the risk of chipping and cracking, both in fabrication, as well as in situ. In addition, it provides a shock-absorbing effect which makes it ideally suited for implant restorations as well as providing a natural bite feel. Compared with classic ceramics, this flexible dental material can be conveniently polished and adapted anytime. Physical tests have further confirmed the good abrasion resistance, alltough the wear-resistant BRILLIANT Crios composite material proves to be extremely kind on opposing teeth compared with ceramic restorations after 1.2 million chewing cycles. This means that the restoration is preserved permanently and protects opposing tooth substance as best possible.
Exceptional grinding precision
The homogenous surface makes it easy to polish and gives BRILLIANT Crios a permanent lustre. Even with tapered restoration margins of only 0.1 mm, the Reinforced Composite material can still be ground easily without cracking. This exceptional grinding precision opens up new options in the design of restorations for dentists. BRILLIANT Crios is available in 9 low- and 4 high-translucency levels. Color adaptations or subsequent corrections are simple to realize with the aid of composites such as, for example, BRILLIANT EverGlow.
The CAD/CAM composite blocs are available from the dental retail trade as a practical starter kit including the ONE COAT 7 UNIVERSAL bond or in packs of 5. For secure bonding, we recommend the use of the matched ONE COAT 7 UNIVERSAL bonding system as well as the BRILLIANT EverGlow universal composite or, depending on the application, a dual-curing cement such as SoloCem or DuoCem made by COLTENE. With this specifically developed restoration material, the pioneers of esthetic filling therapy extend their service spectrum of innovative dental materials by adding a further sophisticated component.
